One of the most beautiful investments to experience around this time of the year is a Father’s Day Investment.

Modeling

Each year I would think of crafts/gift ideas that I would want my kids to present to their dad on Father’s Day. Sometimes these gifts were simple as a handmade card, as elaborate as a handpainted mug, or a guitar made with daddy’s favorite candy. All of these gifts took planning on my part as the parent. Sometimes the challenge was not to repeat LoL. What was important in the process was the meaning behind it all. My purpose was to teach my children to take time to express appreciation whether great or small. So I modeled that for them as mind-boggling as it was at times, their dad was worth all the effort.

Application

Now that my children are a little older, I sit back and marvel at this priceless investment. I observe them in their own spaces working independently on their Father’s Day project to give to their dad. My Children are applying what has been modeled for them. This is such a joy to experience as a parent. This is why we model for our children, so they can do it. A Father’s Day project is just a small nugget of how we can invest in our children.

This is why Parents, have to continue to invest in their children. We will not reap the fruits of our labor all at the same time, but we will. Most importantly, our child/children will be prepared to be and do so much more than we have done in our lifetime.
