Structure contd. Good evening! I Hope this blog finds you and your children in good health. I want to elaborate on another area of structure which is beneficial to our children. “Creating Spaces.” Creating spaces is another way to promote structure for our children. Sometimes we comment, “my house is not big enough to have a space for my kids to play in”. Lets not focus so much on the size, but how to utilize the space we have to invest in our children. Multiple ideas to enhance learning can happen in a designated area, or this area can be used for one purpose. Set up spaces that is conducive for what they want to accomplish, and what you want them to accomplish. The benefit to “creating spaces“, is our children will know where they can paint, play, draw, build, do homework in, etc. For example, right now my family is passing through the flu season. I have temporarily set up a space for my family members that is battling the flu to be in. The rest of the family that is well can be in a different space to interact in. Over time you will see your child/children flow in and out of these spaces that you’ve created independently, which is what we want as parents as they grow. What “spaces” have you created for your child?

We are currently sharing our entertainment room with our daughter. There is still much room for improvement as there is not much organization taking place. We are looking to add some structure that will make her time spent there more meaningful.
