Structure contd.:

Hello! Almost ten years ago I received a formula from a parent. Her formula was providing a set bedtime for her children. I listened as she talked about how her family adjusted their responsibilities, activities, family gatherings, and vacation around their children having a set bedtime. These parents saw the importance of their children having sufficient amount of rest to preform. Parents this may sound a little “too much”, but it’s worth it. In turn I implemented this type of structure so my children can reap the benefits I saw in her children; “ability to function (all) day”. Our children need to be well rested in order to be healthy, attentive, focus, respond appropriately, be receptive, and to learn. As parents we have experienced or still experiencing how lack of sleep and rest alters us to preform at our best. If the decisions we make will cost our children to lose sleep and not be at their best, then let’s rethink them. This is a department in which sometimes I’m inconsistent in as well, and instantly I experience with my children the effects. I honestly have to say that this structure will not happen over night; start small and be patient in the process. I invite you to share your success or challenges as it pertains to having a “set bedtime“. I look forward to hearing from you.
